Malaga Coast Plan
GreenterFaz Contest
GreenterFaz is the proposal we developed together with Scob arquitectura i paisatge and María José Andrade for the International Competition for the Redevelopment of the Central Spaces of the Málaga Litoral Plan.
This urban-port intervention envisions a dynamic and inclusive central space that enhances the connection between the city and the waterfront, generating experiences rooted in both tangible and intangible heritage, as well as in natural resources.
The proposal, with a strong ecological focus, addresses each and every layer of complexity present in the urban space through two key interventions: the Plaza de La Marina, reimagined as a large, flat, open surface for circulation and public events — the Gran Plaza de las Aguas; and the Paseo de los Curas, transformed into a vast meadow with undulating topography and lush vegetation, designed as a place to relax and linger, all at the same elevation as the pre-existing park and palm grove. The level of the plane trees is preserved through the use of cycle tree pits (cicloalcorques). This is a commitment to ecosystem cohesion and the sustainable management of rainwater, framed as a Land Art operation.
By acknowledging the site’s historical memory and existing dynamics, GreenterFaz re-establishes lost connections and introduces new ones, weaving together consolidated physical spaces and giving the area a renewed identity.
